We’ve all been there.  You want to write, but you don’t know how to start.  Or perhaps someone in your life, even someone important to you, discouraged your dream.

Perhaps, you just need a little push, just a little support, to get to writing.

Use the following as an excuse to grab that notebook or Netbook, that iPad or pad of paper, and start writing!

National Novel Writing Month.  Held every November, NaNoWriMo challenges aspiring novelists to write a 50,000-word novel within the month of November.  Entry fee:  NONE!

Camp NaNoWriMo.  A less stressful version of the November challenge, Camp NaNo is held twice a year for anyone wanting to participate!  This year (2013), they added the ability to set one’s own word count goals.  In other words, if you want to set your goal for more or less than 50K, go for it!  Entry fee:  NONE!  (2013 events are being held during April and July.)

National Poetry Writing Month.  Held every April.  In the same way that NaNoWriMo challenges you to write a few novel-words every day, NaPoWriMo challenges you to write a different poem every day!  Not sure what to write?  Feel free to peruse the website for the daily challenge, or simply go your own way!  Entry Fee:  NONE!

Post-A-Day Challenge.  Brought to you by our very own WordPressian leaders, this challenges bloggers to post something on their blogs every day.  It can be cute, quirky, or serious.  Whether you’re a foodie who wants to share recipes or you love posting about the latest political controversy, this contest is open to all!  The only requirement:  You MUST have a WordPress blog.  Entry Fee:  NONE!

Know of an awesome writing challenge I should add?  Leave a comment below!  (Comments will be moderated, so no spam please.)
